Project Name : Private Residence - "Drake's Corner"
Location : Hopewell, NJ
Architect : John Milner Associates
Description : This amazing 23,000 sq ft. residence was designed by renowned John Milner Associates to mimic a historic family estate that had grown organically over generations. A half-mile-long driveway winds through the secluded 126-acre property to arrive at the classic Federal style facade fronted with six-inch stone veneer. The copper-seamed slate roof, true double-hung sash windows, and Spanish cedar details all lend to the illusion that the house is centuries older than it truly is.
The interior is finished in custom millwork performed primarily by Reeves' own field crew. Nowhere is the beauty of this craftsmanship on display more than in the library, with two stories of wall-to-wall built-in oak casework surrounds a double-height arched window that looks out onto the grounds. The railing of the second-story balcony features custom-designed wrought iron railings. Although the library and most the interior finishes are largely in keeping with the tradition style of the exterior, the basement is very modern in both looks and amenities. It includes a game room, office, exercise & weight room, wine cellar, kitchenette, and a full home theater system.
A one-and-a-half story garage and guest quarters, designed to look like a converted stable, is connected to the main house by a covered breezeway. Behind it is an in-ground swimming pool with a pool house/laundry room, designed as a converted shed.
